Prayer for Forgiveness | When You Can't Forgive Yourself (1 John 1:9)

Guilt is heavy, and so is a grudge. Today's prayer holds both.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

We begin with 1 John 1:9 and David's honest cry in Psalm 51, then pray for a clean heart, release from shame, and grace to forgive ourselves and those who hurt us, with hope in His mercy. Forgiveness is not pretending it did not matter; it is trusting God with it.
